This is an in-camera double exposure I took almost twelve years ago. Back in the old days, you had to compute exposure to allow for multiple shots. One of the things I love about my Nikon D300 is that you can set it for six or seven overlapping shots and it will calculate the proper exposure. However, like all thing computer, it doesn’t always give you the desired results, but the creative freedom to not have to do math while shooting is extremely liberating. It’s fun to experiment. In this case, I thought the pine needles in one shot and the cones in another would combine in an interesting, textured composition.
