Green Trick with Pipe - South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - January 14, 2011
Green Dianthus - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - January 14, 2011

Thanks to my daughter, Tracy, we have identified this flower (even though my wife and her have never seen one before). Tracy said, “That’s a carnation stem.” So I Googled “green ball carnation” and sure enough, it came up. It’s called a Green Dianthus (carnation) or Green Trick.

It ended up next to the pipe as I was out in the yard looking for a place where the sun would backlight the flower. I found this spot. I love the contrast of textures, rusty pipe and stucco.
